Hebei Foreign Studies University is a comprehensive university established with the approval of and accredited by the Ministry of Education, and at present it is the only foreign language studies university with independent system in Hebei Province. In addition, it gains sufficient financial support from Hebei Provincial government. 61 foreign teachers, and approximately 9,000 students currently work / study in Hebei Foreign Studies University, which offers 72 academic majors covering 15 foreign languages. While it specializes in language programs, Hebei Foreign Studies University also offers other majors such as Business, Management, Education, Finance, Architecture, Nursing, Computer Sciences, Tourism, and Art, making Hebei Foreign Studies University a comprehensive and multidisciplinary university.

Since the establishment Hebei Foreign Studies University has been committed to the introduction of advanced foreign educational resources, which enables its teaching methods and resources internationalized. In 2011 in order to further promote international exchanges and intercollegiate cooperation & exchanges and strengthen cooperation and exchanges with universities at home and abroad, Hebei Foreign Studies University established School of International Cooperation and Exchange on the basis of its original School of Training and International Exchange Center.

Moreover, Hebei Foreign Studies University offers international program courses for students who wish to study abroad, including Oral Language Training with Natural Language Learning Method, Listening Improvement Class, and language learning classes covering English, Russian, Spain, Japanese, Italian, German, Korean, French, and Portuguese. Besides, Hebei Foreign Studies University offers various foreign language tests, including JLPT, Topic, HSK, IELTS and TOEFL, providing much convenience to students who wish to study abroad and foreign language enthusiasts.
